About Me 14th February 2010

Name

Pete Innes

Occupation

Freelance Designer and Web Developer

Specialist Subject

Web Design & Development (Photoshop web concepts, slicing & dicing into XHTML & CSS, PHP code and MySQL queries. Especially theme development with WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, etc.) and Art, Illustration & Branding.

Skills

I definitely got a B in Art at GCSE and I might have got a degree from some Uni – I’ll double check.

Web-wise, I’ve been producing work for about twelve years and full-time for about ten years. I started with Photoshop, Xara (cough) and Flash. Next, I learnt HTML, PHP and MySQL. From there, I developed my XHTML and CSS skills and brushed up on InDesign and Illustrator.

After a while hand-coding everything from the ground-up, I discovered the joys of the wheel – including the fact that it had already been invented. Now embracing web frameworks of all kinds, I spent a few years working with PHP & .Net development teams who did the code-behind whilst I looked after the front-end side of things from initial Photoshop concepts to XHTML & CSS.

Recently my work has been mostly PHP, MySQL, XHTML, CSS & JQuery – and often using WordPress or a something similar like Drupal, OSCommerce or Zen Cart.

I’ve worked with a variety of code languages, markup, script, frameworks, components, libraries and themes including PHP, .Net, Java Script, Wordpress, vBulletin, phpBB, Mambo, Joomla, PHP-Nuke, PostNuke, osCommerce, MediaChase eCommerce ECF, Umbraco, Telerik .Net Controls, Component Art .Net Controls, .Net 2.0 CSS Control Adapters, JQuery, Scriptalicious, Smarty, Blueprint, YUI and my fair share of bespoke CMS systems (including a couple of my own).
